Opening Ceremony of 26th Command and Staff Course

The 26th Command and Staff Course commenced officially at the Army Command and Staff College, Shivapuri on the 16th of April, 2019. Amid an opening ceremony organized to mark the event, Lt Gen Sarad Giri, COS of the Nepali Army lit the auspicious lamp and declared the beginning of the course. In a motivating opening speech, the Chief Guest also congratulated the national, inter agency and international student officers for being selected for the course. In addition, he highlighted on the importance of the course and gave out remarkable thoughts on the need for student officer to prepare for future endeavors to produce effective outcomes, given the ever challenging security environment and paradigm shifts involved. In a welcome speech preceding the opening address by the chief guest, Maj Gen Ishwar Hamal, Commandant of the Army Command and Staff College thanked all dignitaries and guests for gracing the event with their valuable presence. He also made specific highlights on the expectations that the college had from a fresh lot of student officers yearning to earn themselves a psc title. Further on, he also made mention of the achievements made by the college alumni and gave out thoughtful remarks to inspire the 26th Command and Staff Course students to move forward with similar zeal and enthusiasm.

Attending the course, are 63 student officers, of which, 50 officers are from the Nepali Army, There are three inter agency student officers one each from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department, Likewise, there is a representative of 10 friendly countries armies made by one international student officer (ISO) each from Bangladesh, China, India, Lebanon, Maldives, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and the USA. The 26th Command and Staff Course is scheduled to be conducted over a span of 45 weeks.

Principal staff officers of the Nepali Army, representatives of the Tribhuvan University, senior officers of the Nepali Army, representatives from sister security organizations, ex-commandants of the college, military attachés, and community sponsors of the International Student Officers and media personal were also present on the occasion.
